We have been Planters of Good Deeds for 4 years and we take part in the National Movement Afforestation organized by Plantam Fapte Bune în Romania.
We planted in Beceni, Buzău County, Jegălia, Ialomița County and Siliștea-Gumești, Teleorman County.

Why is it important to plant trees?
- They are a source of oxygen. We could not exist without trees. A mature tree produces an amount of oxygen over the course of a season that is equivalent to that inhaled by 10 people over the course of a year. A forest acts as an enormous filter that refreshes the air we breathe.
- They clean the earth. They absorb dangerous chemicals that reach the soil. They also have the ability to filter household water and chemicals from farms and reduce the effects of substances that spill onto the road.
- They control noise pollution, especially in big cities. It is important to plant them strategically, around your house. They reduce both the noise caused by cars and that caused by trains and planes, if you live near train stations or airports.
- They reduce the dramatic effects of floods. Year after year, we see on the news what locals in areas where massive deforestation has occurred go through. And, although their households are swept away by the waters, it is very rare for people to think about planting trees, so as not to go through the same ordeal again.
- To produce oxygen, trees absorb carbon and store it in their roots and leaves. A forest can swallow as much carbon as it produces oxygen.
- They clean the air. They absorb carbon monoxide, sulfur dioxide and nitrogen dioxide.
- They provide shade and coolness. The shade of trees reduces the need for air conditioning.
- They act as a shield against the wind. In autumn or winter, trees that are in the direction of the wind act as a shield. What benefits do people have? Thanks to a cluster of trees in the wind's path, they will pay up to 30% less on their heating bill.
- They prevent soil erosion. Soil erosion control projects have always started with planting trees and grass. The roots of trees strengthen the soil, while the leaves soften the force of wind and rain.
- They increase the value of a property. If you sell a house with an orchard or an apartment located near a park, you have every chance of getting a higher amount of money. Trees increase the value of a property by at least 15 percent.
