Adventure in the Apuseni Mountains
My weekend began on Friday with TED in the Apuseni Mountains. We left the rain in Bucharest and set off in search of the sun, heading to Alba Iulia. We visited the Alba-Carolina Fortress and wandered the city streets for about 2 hours and 45 minutes, maybe 3 at most!
Saturday morning, we began the trail through Râmeț Gorges, a challenging yet spectacular route that required using steel cables anchored into the rock face and, most notably, crossing water. With the help of the boys, everyone managed brilliantly!
Exiting the gorges, we reached the village of Cheia, where we met Gabi, one of the four residents of the village. He gave us a life lesson—a man who traded the comforts of the capital for the simplicity and beauty of nature.
Moving on, we encountered "Polonic Hill—it’s still a mountain, just smaller," a steep climb. The apples and pears gave us the energy we needed to conquer it.
The trail ended in Modolești village, where we were welcomed with hot coffee and…cornata (a traditional fruit liqueur). (Coțo, thank you so much!)
Sunday, we visited Râmeț Monastery and then headed to Bucharest via Sighișoara.
After exploring Sighișoara’s streets, we couldn’t miss the most important "attraction": La Perla. We had to try the traditional dessert, prune liqueur cake. (Diana, thank you so much!)
Thank you, Angela and Cizz!
